Softie Hat is a lightweight knit hat, soft and slouchy, kind of a beret, but not quite. It hugs the ears, yet doesn’t destroy a hairstyle. It is stretchy and drapes a bit.
The Softie Hat design uses a smaller needle gauge for the ribbing. For the body, there are increases and a change to a larger needle to get the looser, softer fit.
Multicolored sock yarns (there are scads of these lovely yarns on the market now) knit up beautifully in this design. Because the hat is lightweight, you will find that it folds conveniently and tucks into a pocket or daybag, ready for that moment when you want something to keep warm.
