Prairie Spun DK Yarn from Brown Sheep Company is a 3-ply, 100% US wool. The color palette is inspired by the beautiful prairie in Nebraska.
The DK weight (or sport weight, as it can be called) results in a lighter, more fluid fabric than its heavier cousin, worsted weight. Many hand knitting designs for cardigans and pullovers use the DK weight because it results in a lighter weight garment.
We like the fact that Brown Sheep Co., located in Nebraska, provides the hand knitting market with a variety of yarns sourced here in the US.

Wanda’s comment: DK weight yarn has become much more popular for hand knitting in the last few years. One of the other popular DK weight yarns that we carry is Sueno by HiKoo which is a wool and bamboo blend. It will knit up very similar to Prairie Spun.
Pattern suggestion: Throwback Tee by Graywood Designs uses 3-4 skeins for an easy top down women’s sweater.
