Week Three of the Knit Along (KAL) brings us to thumb knitting. You will remember that our project is a flip-top mitten, designed for walking the dog, texting with your mobile phone, or adding to your grocery list in a cold car.
There are two choices for knitting the thumb. You can close the top and make it comfy cozy, or let the top open so the thumb is exposed. It’s knitter’s choice at this point.
Now I will admit to some frustration when knitting thumbs. I like having a fair number of stitches on a double pointed needle. But by the time you come to the thumb, there are only 10 or 12 stitches to deal with. This is when I have to say, “Suck it up, Wanda! It’s such a small thing to knit. You can do this, girl!”
Clue 4 (Week 4) posts this Thursday, July 23 at 9 AM EDT. Remember to check in at KnitPurlHunter.com to see what Designer Michelle Hunter has in store for the flip-top of this mitten.
