CAT 2 — Ripple As You Go Shawl

Hey, Everybody,

Join Amanda “Mandobug” Mannas as she presents a second CAT (Crochet Along Together). The CAT begins in August and runs throughout the month. This stunning project (which you can make as a scarf or a shawl) is called “Ripple As You Go” and will teach a number of crochet skills.

Amanda says this is an “adventurous beginner” project and says not to worry, that the YouTube video support will carry you through the project.

Here at Graywood we have a resident crocheter, Tamie Dell Cook, who will be hooking right along with Amanda. Tamie will be posting her progress on our Facebook page, Graywood Knits. Be sure to “like” our page and check for Tamie’s weekly updates.

You will need these supplies:

Zauberball Starke 6 — you need one ball for scarf, two balls for the shawl

  • Regular price: $32.95
  • Sale price: $28.95

Addi Swing 3.75 mm crochet hook. the 3.75 mm is a metric size from Europe. The US E is slightly smaller; the US F is slightly larger.

Watch Amanda’s intro video on YouTube. When I watched her pick up the Ripple Shawl and wrap it around her shoulders, well, I want to make one, too!

Here are the skills that you can learn:

  • working in the round
  • magic ring
  • picot stitch
  • as-you-go joining technique
  • treble crochet
  • ripple stitch pattern

Link up to Amanda’s Ravelry page for the pattern and more information about how to follow the CAT.

I hope that knitters and crocheters will enjoy this August fiber fun. You will learn as you crochet, just like on our knit alongs. AND there’s a lovely shawl as the end result.

Happy hooking!
