Softie Hat is a lightweight knit hat, soft and slouchy, kind of a beret, but not quite. It hugs the ears, yet doesn’t destroy a hairstyle. It is stretchy, but the ribbing hugs the ears. It drapes and is loose, yet warm.
The Softie Hat design uses a smaller needle gauge for the ribbing. For the body, there are increases and a change to a larger needle to get the looser, softer fit.
Multicolored sock yarns (there are scads of these lovely yarns on the market now) knit up beautifully in this design and, for once, the yarn shows, for, instead of knitting two socks for your feet, you’ll be knitting a special hat for your head!
